The Exploration Company is building innovative aerospace technologies for space transportation. As a Senior Environment Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer, you will lead EHS compliance and safety initiatives across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Regulatory:
- Ensure organizational compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations from local, national, and EU agencies, including mandatory trainings and German governmental documentation.
- Implement and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies to minimize workplace hazards.
- Conduct regular facility, equipment, and process inspections and audits to identify compliance gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Monitor KPIs and drive toward a zero-accident policy.
- Oversee proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
EHS Management & Culture:
- Promote workplace health, safety, and environmental awareness across all organizational levels through training programs and awareness campaigns.
- Perform risk analysis and help employees reduce risk exposure through appropriate regulatory measures.
- Develop and coordinate emergency response plans for fires, chemical spills, natural disasters, and other potential emergencies.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
Project Safety:
- Provide expert advice on health and safety matters for products and projects, contributing to risk management and hazard analysis (FMEA, HAZID, HAZOP).
- Support teams throughout project lifecycle to ensure adherence to applicable requirements and contain risk exposure.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree and/or certification in environmental health and safety management.
- First experience in an EHS role, preferably in aerospace, oil & gas, automotive, or similar industries.
- Knowledge of German EHS regulations.
- Experience with risk assessment methodologies, safety audits, and incident investigation.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent in both German and English.
- Detail and solution-oriented mindset with ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
Desired Assets:
- Knowledge and experience with hazards linked to chemicals, pressurized gases, cryogenic fluids, and electrical installations.
