Semgrep is a code security platform trusted by leading organizations like Vanta, Lyft, and Dropbox. As Senior Engineering Manager for Guardian, you'll lead the platform team responsible for embedding Semgrep's deterministic security analysis directly into the developer workflow—IDE extensions, AI agents, the MCP layer, and editor integrations. Guardian is the orchestration and distribution layer that transforms Semgrep's best-in-class SAST, secrets, SCA, and malware detection engines into a single, low-latency risk verdict developers and agents can act on immediately. Your team owns the surfaces where that verdict is produced and consumed: agent-harness hooks, partner SDKs, the security MCP server, IDE/editor extensions, the orchestration and policy layer, and the unified risk API. Success is measured by adoption of that verdict across Semgrep's products, partner agents and IDEs, and developer trust—not just findings produced. You will work closely with product and design partners to create a roadmap balancing iterative improvements with strategic bets. You'll prioritize your team's schedule across new technology development, serving internal and external consumers, and maintaining technical quality. You'll retain and strengthen engineers through coaching, mentorship, regular feedback, and performance management. Your role includes building an environment of trust that rewards creativity, risk-taking, and personal responsibility, and growing the team through hiring diverse, high-level technical talent. Ideal candidates have 3+ years leading software engineering teams, strong product development experience bringing products to production via multi-disciplinary teams, familiarity with agile principles, and a desire to mentor engineers and leaders. Preferred experience includes building durable platforms, APIs, or SDKs; developer tooling; IDE/editor extensions; AI agent or MCP integrations; or security products.
