As Senior Engineering Manager for Backend, you will lead a team of backend engineers building core product surfaces that lawyers and legal professionals use daily. This includes complex workflows, collaboration tools, and user interfaces powered by sophisticated backend systems. The role balances product intuition with technical execution, requiring fast, high-quality decision-making and the ability to ship impactful features while growing a team committed to engineering excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading engineers to define and execute multi-quarter technical strategy for user-facing features
- Collaborating with Design, Product, and AI teams on high-impact initiatives
- Defining and evolving architecture for a fast-moving, AI-powered application
- Hiring, growing, and retaining exceptional engineers in a high-trust environment
- Fostering a culture of simplicity, quality, and continuous improvement
- Contributing to code and architecture reviews, unblocking teams, and leading by example
- Aligning product initiatives with company goals through cross-functional partnership
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years in software engineering management leading product engineering teams, preferably in high-growth environments
- 12+ years as a backend engineer
- Track record leading high-performing, engaged teams
- Strong product sense and instinct for balancing speed, quality, and user impact
- Experience with backend systems (Python, Java, Go) and modern cloud-native infrastructure
- Ability to anticipate scaling bottlenecks and take proactive measures
- Experience building RAG pipelines and managing data lifecycle
Preferred: Exposure to AI-powered applications or complex internal tools. Must be authorized to work in India; visa sponsorship not available.
