Impulse Space is seeking a Senior Engineer for Propulsion Systems to own all aspects of in-house propulsion system design, analysis, implementation, and operation. You will work with a fast-paced, agile team developing high-performance spacecraft from clean sheet designs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as Responsible Propulsion Engineer for in-space propulsion systems, including bipropellant thrusters, pressure components, and vessels
- Drive propulsion system development and implementation across the full lifecycle: requirements definition, design, analysis, and testing
- Formulate schedules, track progress, and allocate resources
- Define hardware and software configurations
- Build and execute development, acceptance, and qualification test campaigns
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Perform on-orbit mission support including flight data reviews and anomaly resolution
- Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, testing, and operations teams to deliver reliable, high-performance integrated systems
- Manage internal and external stakeholders to ensure system alignment and transparency
- Resolve technical issues with innovative, resourceful solutions
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or science
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in aerospace propulsion
- Hands-on experience with bipropellant rocket propulsion systems
- Proficiency in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and materials science
- Ability to perform system trades ranging from thermal-fluids analyses to materials selection
- Demonstrated ability to take project ownership and work collaboratively with small teams
