SonarSource is seeking a Senior Employment Counsel to join its legal team in Austin, TX. The company is a leader in AI code verification and governance, serving over 75% of the Fortune 100 with products like SonarQube and SonarQube Foundation Agent. With over $400M in revenue and global operations across eight hubs, Sonar is experiencing fast-paced, profitable growth.
In this role, you will be a key member of the legal team, reporting to the Head of Global Employment Law. You will drive employment law initiatives and manage critical compliance matters as the company scales globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide global employment law counsel on hiring, performance management, terminations, leaves/accommodations, wage and hour, and investigations across the USA, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, France, Singapore, Japan, the UAE, and various EOR locations, with support from outside counsel.
- Drive cross-functional projects including policy rollouts, trainings, and compliance initiatives in partnership with the Head of Global Employment Law.
- Develop creative, compliant, and business-enabling solutions for sensitive employee relations issues and organizational change.
- Independently identify opportunities to streamline processes and partner with functional stakeholders to drive change management and meet compliance expectations.
- Manage a dynamic workload of emergent legal issues, supporting high-growth initiatives related to global expansion, employee privacy, equity, immigration, compliance, and M&A integration.
- Advise on global compensation, pay equity, and benefits compliance.
The company operates with an in-office culture, requiring candidates to be based in Austin with three anchor days (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays) for collaboration. Relocation support is available for the right candidate.
Requirements:
- J.D. degree and active bar admission in good standing (Texas bar or eligible for registered in-house status).
- 5+ years of employment law experience, preferably in-house at a multinational organization and/or fast-growing tech company.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. employment law, including California.
- Preference for experience with employment law in EMEA (Switzerland, United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, France, UAE) and/or APJ (Japan, Singapore) markets.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and teams across the business.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple work streams, and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
- Start-up mentality with willingness to roll up sleeves, clear blockers, think creatively, and drive projects to completion.
- Flexibility with work schedule to accommodate occasional calls outside regular time zone.
