Efficient is developing ultra-low-power general-purpose computer processors that use 100x less energy than state-of-the-art commercially available alternatives. The company's patented technology enables AI/ML to run continuously on a single AA battery for 5-10 years, making perpetual, pervasive intelligence possible across IoT devices.
As a Senior Embedded Engineer, you will design and implement firmware, applications, and hardware that leverage Efficient's breakthrough energy-efficient processors. Your primary responsibility is developing firmware and applications, with additional responsibilities spanning SDK enhancement, RTOS porting, hardware development (EVKs and bring-up boards), and pre/post-silicon validation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and deploy firmware and applications across software simulation, RTL emulation, and silicon
- Enhance and maintain low-level SDK and standard libraries
- Perform silicon validation and verification activities
- Develop bring-up test hardware and customer evaluation kits
- Execute board bring-up and first-silicon checkout activities
- Collaborate with Digital Design and Compiler teams to debug silicon issues
- Support customers with board development, design reviews, and recommended solutions
Required qualifications: 8+ years developing firmware/applications for embedded systems; 8+ years with C/C++; experience porting RTOSes to new processor architectures; hands-on silicon and hardware prototype debugging; deep knowledge of embedded platforms (MSP430, STM32, Ambiq Apollo, PIC32, or similar); proficiency with industry-standard embedded development and debugging tools; strong attention to detail and multitasking ability; excellent problem-solving and communication skills; comfort with startup engineering pace.
Desired qualifications include PCB board design experience and solid understanding of computer architectures. The role offers competitive salary ($160K–$210K based on experience and location), meaningful equity, 401K match, company-paid benefits, paid parental leave, and flexibility.
