Apptronik is a Series B human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered humanoid robots (Apollo) for manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and beyond. We're seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design and build the electronics for Apollo's sensor bridge—a multi-Gbps, mixed-signal PCBA that aggregates camera sensor data and human-robot interface functions.
You will own defined subsystems end-to-end: schematic capture, layout guidance, RTL development, and validation through manufacturing release. Working closely with the perception team and Staff/Principal engineers, you'll execute against a collaboratively-defined architecture.
Key responsibilities include:
**Electronics & FPGA Design**: Contribute to requirements, own part selection, schematic capture, and layout for high-speed sensor aggregation boards. Manage designs from prototype through manufacturing release, maintaining comprehensive documentation (schematics, RTL specs, test plans, fab drawings).
**High-Speed & Mixed-Signal Hardware**: Design and validate multi-Gbps digital interfaces (CSI-2, GMSL2, FPD-Link, 10GbE) with signal integrity, impedance control, and length-matching. Contribute to power tree design, EMC, ESD, and thermal analysis.
**FPGA RTL Development**: Develop RTL in VHDL/Verilog for CSI-2 ingest, Ethernet packetization, timestamp/metadata insertion, and deterministic multi-camera/IMU synchronization. Handle timing closure, clock-domain crossing, and resource budgeting within a senior-defined architecture.
**Validation & Debugging**: Build test fixtures and execute validation plans using oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and logic analyzers. Debug across hardware/RTL boundaries—link training, timing violations, power sequencing—with rigorous root-cause analysis.
**Lifecycle & Vendor Management**: Support component lifecycle through PLM systems; manage relationships with hardware vendors and contract manufacturers for production scaling and DFM/DFA.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration**: Partner with technical leads, project managers, software, mechanical, thermal, and systems engineers. Mentor junior electrical engineers on hardware design best practices.
Required experience: FPGA hardware design for time-sensitive, high-performance applications (image processing, real-time data acquisition, networking). Proficiency in FPGA device selection, RTL (VHDL/Verilog), high-speed interfaces (CSI-2, GMSL, Ethernet, PCIe), timing closure, clock-domain crossing, and FPGA tool flows (Vivado, Quartus, Radiant). Strong understanding of signal integrity, impedance-controlled routing, differential pairs, and board-to-FPGA timing analysis.
