Beacon Biosignals is seeking a Senior Director of Reliability and Security Engineering to lead and grow the teams responsible for infrastructure reliability, security, and IT operations. You will manage an existing Site Reliability Engineering team of four engineers and an IT Specialist, while building out the security engineering practice by leading a newly approved security-focused engineer. This role reports directly to Beacon's VP of Platform.
Beacon Biosignals transforms precision medicine for the brain through at-home EEG platforms for clinical development and diagnostics. The company holds SOC 2 certification and is underway with ISO 27001 audit, targeting HITRUST r2 certification by H1 2027.
In this leadership role, you'll own strategy and execution across SRE, security, and IT, setting direction for how Beacon protects systems, supports its globally distributed workforce, and scales infrastructure. You'll treat reliability, security, and IT as interconnected software engineering problems: infrastructure-as-code over manual runbooks, automated compliance over audit scrambles, and self-service tooling that makes the secure path the easy path.
Key responsibilities include: managing and growing SRE and IT teams while building security capabilities; setting a unified technical vision across all three disciplines; improving security posture through automation and infrastructure hardening; ensuring reliability and availability of cloud infrastructure including Kubernetes clusters powering data science workloads; owning incident response practices and on-call structure; building self-service IT tooling that reduces friction while maintaining access controls; and owning the compliance roadmap toward HITRUST r2 certification.
Your teams will support everything from Kubernetes clusters running large-scale ML workloads to endpoint management and access controls. The role is based in Boston to support close partnership with the Boston-based team.
