Catawiki is a curated marketplace for special objects, auctioning over 100,000 unique items weekly across categories from sports memorabilia to fine art. As Senior Director of People Operations & Facilities, you will lead the operational backbone of the People function across Catawiki's operating countries, reporting to the Chief People Officer.
You will own the strategic roadmap for People Operations, payroll, well-being, and facilities, aligned with business and People strategy. Key responsibilities include leading and developing the People Operations, payroll, and facilities teams; strengthening people operations across the employee lifecycle through automation, AI, and self-service tools; ensuring compliance with employment legislation, payroll, tax, and ESG requirements across multiple European jurisdictions; overseeing employee relations, well-being, and absence management with senior escalation authority on complex cases; owning the facilities and workplace experience strategy for Amsterdam and Lisbon offices; and evolving the reward and benefits strategy in partnership with the CPO.
You will translate strategy into practical execution in a fast-paced, hybrid, international environment. The role requires deep expertise in multi-country People Operations at scale, including payroll, benefits, compensation operations, and process improvement. You must demonstrate strong knowledge of employment law and employee relations practices in the Netherlands and other European countries, with sound judgment on complex cases. Experience with reward and benefits programs, role and salary benchmarking, and leveraging data and emerging technologies including AI is essential. You will communicate effectively with employees, managers, senior leaders, and external partners, building trusted relationships across the organization.
