Salary: USD 180,000 - 195,000 / annual

Misfits Market is a high-growth, mission-driven startup tackling food waste by delivering organic produce, high-quality meats, seafood, plant-based proteins, dairy, bakery, wine, and groceries to nearly every zip code in 48 states at up to 30% off traditional retail prices. The company acquired sustainable e-grocer Imperfect Foods in 2022 and operates an in-house transportation network, saving an average of 500,000 pounds of food per week from waste. The Senior Director, Lifecycle Marketing & Retention reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and sits on the Leadership Team. This role owns the company's customer retention and lifecycle marketing strategy, driving sustainable growth by strengthening customer engagement, loyalty, and lifetime value. Key responsibilities include leading and developing a high-performing Lifecycle Marketing team; defining and executing lifecycle marketing strategy across owned channels to increase engagement, retention, winback, and LTV; serving as the company's retention leader by identifying drivers and championing initiatives; partnering cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Brand, Merchandising, Data, Finance, Operations, and Customer Care to influence customer experiences; developing innovative lifecycle strategies leveraging segmentation, personalization, and automation; building a culture of experimentation through testing and learning; translating customer data into strategic insights and executive communications; defining the Lifecycle Marketing roadmap; and continuously improving capabilities, technology, and processes. You'll need 12–15 years of lifecycle marketing, CRM, retention marketing, or related customer marketing experience, with at least 5 years leading high-performing teams. Proven success developing retention strategies that drive measurable growth in high-growth DTC or e-commerce businesses is essential. You're a strong people leader who coaches, develops, and inspires teams while fostering accountability and collaboration. Deep expertise in customer lifecycle management, segmentation, personalization, experimentation, and retention best practices is required. Exceptional analytical skills, ability to translate complex data into business insights, and proven cross-functional partnership and executive influence are critical. Experience with CRM platforms, marketing automation tools, and customer data platforms (CDPs) is expected; Braze experience is preferred. You're comfortable operating strategically while diving into details when needed. Startup and/or high-growth e-commerce experience is strongly preferred; subscription business experience is a plus.
