Turnitin seeks a Senior Director, Controller to lead its global accounting function as a strategic partner to the CFO and executive leadership team. This role owns end-to-end delivery of accounting services across all geographies, including financial operations, reporting, tax, treasury, compliance, and internal controls. You will architect organizational design and capacity models to build a scalable, high-performing finance center of excellence.
Key responsibilities include: establishing robust corporate governance frameworks and global compliance strategies; directing statutory reporting, audit, payroll, and treasury operations; overseeing external and internal audit engagements (KPMG, Advance Accounting); delivering board-level financial insights; innovating internal control frameworks with automation and modern finance tools; leading M&A integration across regional finance operations; and driving continuous improvement initiatives that modernize processes and enhance team engagement.
You will mentor and develop distributed global finance teams, foster agile performance management, and serve as a trusted strategic thought partner on transformational initiatives. The role emphasizes digital transformation, leveraging AI and emerging technologies to drive operational efficiency across global finance workflows.
Required: 10+ years progressive finance leadership with experience in US business operations; Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance plus CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent; deep expertise in US/Global GAAP and ASC revenue recognition; strong knowledge of US domestic and international tax accounting; proven ability to lead remote and distributed teams; excellent communication translating complex financial concepts for executives and non-technical stakeholders; and demonstrated success navigating complex, multi-threaded priorities under tight timelines.
Desirable: experience in technology, SaaS, or software sectors.
