Turnitin seeks a Senior Director, Controller to lead its global accounting function as a strategic business partner to the CFO and executive leadership team. This role owns end-to-end delivery of accounting services across all geographies, including financial operations, reporting, tax, treasury, compliance, and internal controls.
Key responsibilities include architecting organizational design and capacity models to support scalable growth; building and mentoring high-performing global accounting teams; driving global accounting strategy across statutory reporting, audit, payroll, treasury, compliance, and tax; establishing robust corporate governance frameworks and compliance standards; overseeing external and internal audit engagements; delivering board-level financial insights; optimizing internal control frameworks and automation; leading M&A integration across regional finance operations; and championing continuous improvement and modernization initiatives.
The role requires strategic partnership with the CFO, CLT, VP of FP&A, and business leaders to align finance operations with enterprise strategy. You will evaluate and implement AI tools and emerging technologies to drive operational efficiencies and innovation across global finance processes.
Required qualifications: 10+ years progressive finance leadership with experience building and leading global, distributed teams; Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent credential; deep expertise in US/Global GAAP and ASC revenue recognition; strong knowledge of US domestic and international tax accounting; demonstrated ability to modernize finance systems and drive digital transformation; excellent communication skills translating complex financial concepts for executive audiences; and proven success navigating complex, multi-threaded priorities.
Desirable: experience in technology, SaaS, or software sectors. This is a strategic role requiring both operational rigor and visionary leadership to elevate accounting into a center of excellence.
