Turnitin seeks a Senior Director, Controller to lead global accounting operations and drive financial excellence across all geographies. This is a strategic executive role reporting to the CFO, responsible for architecting and scaling the global accounting function into a center of excellence.
Key responsibilities include: leading core accounting functions (financial operations, reporting, tax, treasury, compliance, internal controls); designing organizational structures and capacity models to support scalable growth; building and mentoring high-performing distributed finance teams; driving end-to-end global accounting strategy across statutory reporting, audit, payroll, treasury, compliance, and tax; establishing robust corporate governance frameworks and standardizing SOPs/policies across diverse markets; directing risk management audits and overseeing external/internal audit engagements (KPMG, Advance Accounting); delivering board-level financial insights and strategic reporting; innovating internal control frameworks with automation and modern finance tools; leading M&A integration across regional finance operations and enterprise systems; championing continuous improvement and process modernization; managing global departmental budgets and resource allocation; and evaluating/implementing AI tools to drive operational efficiencies.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of progressive finance leadership with experience building and leading global, distributed teams. Must have deep expertise in US/Global GAAP, ASC revenue recognition, and multi-jurisdiction tax accounting. Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance plus CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent credential required. Strong background in technology/SaaS sector is highly desirable. Demonstrated success navigating complex, multi-threaded priorities, translating financial concepts for executive audiences, and driving strategic transformation through digital modernization and automation. Proven ability to partner cross-functionally and influence strategic decisions.
