PagerDuty is hiring a Senior Developer Advocate to join its Developer Relations team. The role focuses on educating and engaging developers around incident response, operational resilience, and the emerging intersection of AI agents in incident management.
Key responsibilities include building sample applications and integrations against the PagerDuty API (including AI/agentic capabilities), writing technical content for practitioners (tutorials, deep dives, technical opinions), speaking at conferences and meetups, participating in developer communities, routing customer feedback to internal teams with context, and enabling other engineers and marketers to communicate effectively.
You'll spend most of your time creating content and engaging where developers actually are—writing, building demos, presenting, and participating in technical communities. The role requires bringing observations back internally as a subject matter expert through strong cross-functional relationships.
Required qualifications include experience in developer advocacy, developer relations, community, solutions engineering, SRE, or similar technical roles. You need demonstrated technical credibility with live demos, hands-on experience carrying a pager with opinions on incident management and reliability, proficiency in 1–2 programming languages, familiarity with APIs, and a public body of work (writing, talks, code, videos). Strong communication skills and active participation in technical communities are essential. Travel up to 25% for conferences and team events.
Preferred experience includes engaging security-conscious or compliance-heavy audiences, hands-on work with AI agent frameworks, running production systems at scale, open source contributions, and prior customer-facing technical support or solutions engineering roles.
The role is hybrid, requiring presence in the Atlanta office two times per week. This is a chance to shape what developer advocacy looks like in an AI-driven world while working with a small, experienced team of practitioners-turned-educators.
