LaunchDarkly is seeking a Senior Developer Advocate based in the San Francisco Bay Area to own the company's presence in the local AI and platform engineering community. This role is ideal for someone already embedded in or genuinely drawn to the Bay Area developer scene—someone who would be attending these events anyway. You'll attend developer events (meetups, demo nights, hackathons, conferences) several times a week, building authentic long-term relationships with AI and platform engineers. The focus is on listening and learning: understanding what practitioners are building, where they're stuck, and how they think about agents, releases, and runtime control. You'll bring structured signal back to LaunchDarkly's product and go-to-market teams. You'll demonstrate LaunchDarkly's platform and AgentControl through credible, small demos—holding your own in deep technical conversations without scripts. You'll write practitioner-grade content (event recaps, technical pieces) that the community actually wants to read, not marketing broadcasts. Over time, you'll earn the trust to convene developer gatherings around real problems, not brand promotion. Success means LaunchDarkly has a consistent, welcome presence in rooms where the AI developer conversation is happening. Event organizers invite you to speak; practitioners seek you out. Your content gets shared organically. The signal you bring back changes product decisions, positioning, and prioritization. You iterate on your own strategy based on evidence. You're increasingly hosting gatherings that developers attend because of the problems on the agenda and because you're the host. You'll need experience in developer advocacy, community building, solutions engineering, customer success, or similar customer-facing technical roles. You must be based in the Bay Area with the ability to attend events in person several times weekly, including evenings. Technical credibility is essential—you can build and demo real things and hold deep technical conversations. Bonus: existing Bay Area developer network, event-organizing experience, or familiarity with feature management, experimentation, observability, or agent frameworks.
