As Senior Design Reliability Engineer at Impulse, you will own the standardization and implementation of the company's design process, leading cross-functional efforts to establish design standards, margining approaches, configuration management, and templates across all engineering disciplines. Key responsibilities include: • Define and document design standards and best practices for structures, propulsion, avionics, composites, mechanisms, and related systems • Establish and document the margining approach for design analysis and validation • Own the design release workflow processes, integrating CAD, PLM, MRP, and ERP systems • Define design review processes, templates, and milestone criteria • Create and manage tools for compiling design-informing data, tracking changes, and documenting key decision points • Provide design-for-reliability guidance during design reviews and build planning phases • Develop and implement robust design configuration management processes • Leverage build and flight data to inform requirements, assumptions, and engineering decisions • Serve as specification custodian for design, margining, configuration, and release processes • Ensure product integrity by maintaining quality standards, owning design containments, and driving corrective actions to completion • Collaborate with build reliability, quality, and flight reliability teams to solve complex problems Required qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field • 5+ years of experience in hardware design and analysis for aerospace, automotive, or high-reliability systems • Demonstrated experience supporting design-for-manufacturing of builds, integration, or test of primary structures and/or complex mechanical or electromechanical systems • Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated root cause analysis experience • Strong theoretical and working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
