Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Customer Engineer to serve as the technical lynchpin for the Public Sector Federal sales cycle, with a focus on the emerging Department of Defense and DISA segment. You will be the technical customer advocate, working closely with prospects and customers to educate, empower, and ensure their success on the Cloudflare platform.
In this hybrid role based in Washington, D.C., you will drive technical discussions and implementations across the entire sales lifecycle—from pre-sales qualification and requirements discovery through proof-of-concept execution and post-sale account technical leadership. You'll lead demonstrations, identify and design solutions, and provide strategic guidance on technical best practices and Cloudflare product implementation.
Your responsibilities include qualifying prospect and customer use cases, conducting technical requirements discovery, leading product demonstrations, designing solutions, and collaborating on proofs-of-concept. For existing customers, you'll be part of a dedicated account team advising on best practices and strategic technology direction. The role requires 35–45% travel to meet with prospects and customers, attend industry conferences, and collaborate with Cloudflare teams.
You bring demonstrated expertise in internet technologies (OSI Model layers 1–7, routing, TCP/UDP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS) and SASE frameworks (Secure Web Gateway, CASB, DLP, SD-WAN). You have hands-on comfort with on-premise infrastructure and networking configurations, including legacy systems. A minimum of 4 years in customer-facing sales or consulting roles supporting the US Federal Government is required. You are technically curious, passionate about staying current with industry trends and Cloudflare's evolving product suite, and skilled at explaining complex technical concepts in accessible terms. You work with empathy, appreciate the diversity of customer challenges, and thrive in a collaborative environment.
