Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Customer Engineer based in Tokyo to drive technical go-to-market strategy and own the complete customer lifecycle. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor from initial discovery through long-term adoption and account expansion, operating as a quota-carrying technologist who bridges architectural complexity with business outcomes.
Key responsibilities include leading technical discovery and proof-of-concept engagements across Cloudflare's Security, Networking, Zero Trust, and Developer Platforms; maintaining deep relationships with key stakeholders throughout the customer journey; ensuring strategic alignment between evolving customer business goals and product roadmap; and carrying variable quota tied to new business acquisition and account growth. You will conduct technical Quarterly Business Reviews to translate platform capabilities into measurable ROI for C-level executives, identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities based on usage data, and leverage AI agents and internal platforms to automate routine tasks like RFP responses and sandbox provisioning.
Required qualifications include experience in customer-facing technical roles such as Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Forward Deployed Engineering; broad technical expertise spanning web security, networking (routing, DNS, DDoS mitigation), cloud infrastructure, and enterprise architecture; proven track record in quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environments with strong understanding of SaaS metrics and enterprise sales cycles; and exceptional presentation and stakeholder management skills capable of bridging technical implementation and C-suite strategy.
Strongly preferred qualifications include hands-on experience with Cloudflare's developer platform and AI ecosystem (Workers AI, AI Gateway), applied AI knowledge, and familiarity with enterprise security and networking architectures. The role emphasizes AI-augmented workflows, iteration, and leveraging modern tools to solve complex Internet infrastructure challenges.
