Planet is seeking a Director of Pre-Sales for Global Defence & Intelligence to lead a worldwide team of Pre-Sales Solution Architects. This strategic role focuses on delivering technical sales excellence and solution architecture tailored to national security, defence, and intelligence institutions.
You will lead a global team of specialized pre-sales professionals, providing trusted technical advice to defence customers on leveraging Earth Observation data and geospatial intelligence for military operations and strategic decision-making. The role partners closely with D&I Sales teams, Space Systems, Product Engineering, and defence partner ecosystems to secure complex, large-scale government contracts.
Key responsibilities include recruiting, coaching, and developing a high-performing global pre-sales team; supporting sales teams with world-class technical capability; applying deep expertise in remote sensing and imagery analytics to design solutions for Military Operations, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) workflows; leading high-impact customer engagements and technical demonstrations for defence commanders and procurement officers; collaborating with Professional Services and Customer Success on technical assessments; and feeding customer insights back to Product and Marketing to shape the roadmap.
You bring 8+ years of relevant experience with 6+ years managing and scaling technical sales teams, plus 8+ years in a Defence & Intelligence environment. You hold or are eligible for active security clearance, possess solid understanding of military planning and intelligence workflows, and can navigate complex government sales cycles and RFP processes. You are fluent in geospatial system architectures, cloud environments, API integrations, and complex data pipelines. You excel at engaging senior defence executives and building resilient, high-trust teams.
This is a full-time, remote-eligible position based in Germany or the UK, with expectation of 3 days per week in-office if located near an office. Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites, delivering unprecedented Earth observation data to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors.
