Salary: USD 256,000 - 340,000 / annual

9fin is an AI platform powering global debt markets, serving 300+ blue-chip institutions including global banks, asset managers, private equity firms, law firms, and advisors. The company centralizes proprietary credit data, analysis, and workflows across global debt markets, replacing fragmented data, PDFs, and manual processes. You will join 9fin's distressed editorial team as a corporate finance attorney with deep expertise in credit agreements and indentures. This role combines legal analysis with thought leadership in the debt markets space. You'll help the team understand nuances of complex bond and loan documents relevant to restructuring and liability management exercises. The position offers an experienced finance attorney the opportunity to recalibrate work-life balance while remaining deeply engaged in substantive legal work, with exposure to technologists, credit analysts, and journalists. Day-to-day responsibilities include: - Reviewing leveraged finance and high yield documentation to produce commercially focused analysis on distressed scenarios and primary market dynamics - Writing topical reports on secondary situations, collaborating with 9fin's legal and credit analyst teams - Answering client questions about covenant packages of specific borrowers and issuers - Using 9fin's proprietary technology to build and expand restructuring and liability management exercise databases - Delivering seminars, teach-ins, and podcast segments as a subject matter expert - Representing 9fin in press, industry conferences, and events The role reports to the New York office with flexibility for remote work as needed. This is an opportunity to apply deep finance law expertise in a rapidly growing fintech environment while developing new skills working alongside technologists and credit professionals. REQUIREMENTS: - JD with 5+ years of experience in capital solutions, leveraged finance, capital markets, restructuring, and/or special situations at a top-tier law firm - Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating high yield bond and/or leveraged loan documents, restructuring support agreements, and Chapter 11 documentation - Keen commercial awareness of leveraged finance and restructuring markets - Strong technical understanding of how leveraged finance covenants and definitions operate - Existing network of relationships within the leveraged finance community - Excellent relationship-building skills - Effective written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex covenant concepts to non-lawyers concisely - Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
