Duolingo is seeking a Senior Community Manager to shape how millions of learners engage with the platform globally. Working hand-in-hand with the Head of Community, you'll craft and build the community function from scratch while owning day-to-day engagement across core community channels like Reddit and Discord.
Key responsibilities include managing community channels and driving daily engagement, conversation quality, and member experience; building and maintaining strong relationships with moderators, ambassadors, and superfans; developing scalable processes, playbooks, and frameworks that uphold safety, trust, delight, and Duolingo's signature tone; monitoring community health, sentiment, and emerging risks to identify insights and opportunities for improvement; and launching initiatives that grow participation and long-term community value.
You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Communications, and Customer Support to bring the community's voice into the heart of the organization. This is a unique opportunity to be both a strategist and hands-on operator, combining creative ideation with execution excellence.
Required qualifications include experience in community management for consumer-facing brands at scale, proven success growing and engaging online communities across multiple platforms, strong instincts for tone and internet culture dynamics, experience managing moderators and similar stakeholder groups, a data-driven approach to decision-making, excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, and experience navigating complex community conversations. Active Duolingo user preferred.
Exceptional candidates will have a track record building communities of 1M+ members, experience shifting sentiment and scaling advocates through community programs, international community management experience, and excellence in both strategic planning and hands-on execution.
