Relativity Space is building Terran R, a commercial launch vehicle designed to deliver payloads to orbit. The Reliability team ensures quality is embedded throughout the design and production process for the rocket vehicle.
As a Senior Build Reliability Engineer, you will own critical reliability functions across the Terran R program as it transitions from development into production and scaled operations. Your responsibilities span multiple domains:
Design: Lead drawing standardization, design-for-manufacturability (DFM) initiatives, and configuration management and control to ensure designs are optimized for reliable production.
Planning: Review and develop work instructions, create process development documentation, and establish standard rework and repair procedures that maintain quality without sacrificing speed.
Manufacturing: Oversee in-process build verification, coordinate traveled work, and embed reliability checks throughout the manufacturing workflow.
Testing & Launch: Collaborate with test and launch teams to validate reliability assumptions and ensure hardware meets mission requirements.
You will work directly with design, manufacturing, test, and launch teams, staying close to hardware and understanding constraints to proactively shape decisions. This role is critical in establishing the right processes, controls, and inspections as the program scales. You'll balance risk management with operational speed, fostering a culture of ownership where quality never gets compromised.
