The Financial Markets team is expanding into stablecoin infrastructure, enabling customers and internal systems to buy, hold, send, and settle with tokenized currency globally. This includes support for near-instant global payments, on-chain liquidity, and seamless conversion between fiat and stablecoin balances.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will architect and build robust, reliable systems for blockchain integration, digital asset custody, and global payments infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement secure systems for key management, transaction signing, gas fee management, and blockchain integration
- Own services managing the full lifecycle of stablecoin transactions: mint, burn, transfer, and reconciliation
- Build internal ledgering systems tracking balances across multiple chains and token types
- Integrate stablecoin infrastructure into Airwallex's existing FX and payment systems
- Write, review, and ship production code
- Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and compliance teams
You bring 5+ years of experience with deep expertise in object-oriented design and production-grade software development using strongly typed languages (Kotlin, Java, C#, C++, Rust). You have proven experience building and integrating blockchain infrastructure into larger financial systems, including wallets, transaction flows, and key management. You excel at integrating new systems into legacy or distributed environments without introducing instability. You understand secure system design, particularly private key handling, signing, encryption, and operational controls. You communicate clearly across engineering, product, and non-technical teams and adapt quickly to changing technical priorities.
