You'll join as a Senior Backend Engineer in a hands-on individual contributor role, designing and owning end-to-end product features used by thousands of developers and hundreds of millions of end-users. This is a product-focused engineering role where you'll take ownership from problem scoping through production rollout and long-term maintenance. You'll work on systems that move billions of dollars and touch hundreds of millions of users, requiring both strong engineering fundamentals for high-scale, reliable systems and product sense to ship value today rather than waiting for perfection.
Key responsibilities include designing complex, fast-growing backend systems; writing advanced SQL and high-quality, well-tested code; collaborating with product teams on scoping and prioritization; and mentoring other engineers. You'll be expected to act like a founder—noticing problems, proposing improvements, and following through quickly. The role requires clear communication both synchronously and asynchronously, as the team is fully distributed.
In your first month, you'll onboard with your team, set up your development environment, and ship your first project. Within three months, you'll scope and execute projects independently, talk directly with customers, and join the on-call rotation. By six months, you'll contribute to architectural discussions and ship a major feature. Within a year, you'll mentor other engineers, drive your own initiatives grounded in customer and business priorities, and help push the organization on reliability, scalability, and performance.
