You'll join the Agents Engineering Team as a Senior Backend Engineer, taking ownership of impactful projects that power critical Scribe experiences: document viewing and editing, embedding, exporting, and key integrations. Millions of users depend on these workflows daily.
In this role, you'll build and ship backend features in the Django monolith, spanning both core document workflows and new greenfield projects. You'll optimize performance and reliability by tuning database queries, endpoints, and caching layers. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to deliver intuitive, reliable experiences at scale. You'll contribute to technical discussions that balance short-term delivery with longer-term architectural evolution, and uphold strong engineering practices through code reviews, test coverage, and observability.
The backend tech stack includes Python + Django, PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery + AmazonMQ, and Terraform-managed AWS infrastructure.
You'll work hybrid from the San Francisco office, 3 days per week. Compensation includes salary (varies by location), equity, health/dental/vision insurance, flexible PTO, 401(k), paid parental leave, catered lunch, commuter benefits, and home office stipend.
