You will own a fast-paced, high-volume learning design track focused on short, targeted, just-in-time courses (typically 15–45 minutes each) built in rapid three-week sprints, shipping roughly 15+ courses per year. Unlike traditional curriculum teams that build polished, multi-hour programs over extended timelines, you'll create focused, standalone courses that respond to immediate needs: new workflows, role-specific skills, newly shipped tools, and timely AI topics that can't wait for the next curriculum cycle.
You'll own the complete design lifecycle for each course—needs analysis, design, build, QA, and publish—making smart scope decisions about what's essential and how to deliver maximum learning value in a compact format. The primary medium is video-based learning: you will be the voice and face of your instruction, recording voiceover or appearing on camera to teach software and AI topics, combined with screencaptures, screen recordings, and graphics. This is not a role where you hand off to a video team or rely on AI-generated voice; you are the teacher.
You'll also deliver live and virtual training on the topics you build, adapting on the fly to audience questions, skill levels, and industry-specific workflows across Writer's verticals. You'll repurpose content across delivery modes to maximize reach without rebuilding from scratch.
You'll scan proactively for emerging learning needs by monitoring product changes, customer signals, and internal feedback, while also fielding and triaging incoming requests from across the company and customers. You'll balance proactive and reactive work, making judgment calls about what's worth building, what can wait, and what should be deferred or declined. You'll partner with product, product marketing, customer-facing teams, and SMEs to gather information quickly and keep courses moving. You'll coordinate with end-to-end learning experience designers to avoid duplication and ensure your rapid-response courses complement larger curriculum efforts, and flag topics that outgrow the rapid-response format.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or a related field, with demonstrated experience designing and shipping courses at a fast pace
- Proven ability to design effective learning in compact formats (15–45 minutes); you know how to scope tight, cut ruthlessly, and deliver high-impact learning
- Comfort with rapid development cycles and short sprints; you thrive in fast-paced environments and embrace the pace of an AI-native environment where topics may shift mid-sprint
- Strong prioritization and triage skills; you can juggle proactive and reactive work, make tradeoffs, and say no when something doesn't warrant a course
- Excellent live facilitation skills; you're confident and effective delivering in person and virtually, able to read a room, adapt on the fly, and keep learners engaged
- Excellent stakeholder management; you can gather what you need from SMEs and partners quickly, keep things moving, and communicate clearly about expectations
- Proficiency in standard LXD tools including authoring tools (e.g., Parta), LMS platforms (e.g., Skilljar), slide/presentation tools, video production tools, and basic design tools
- A portfolio demonstrating your craft: at least 2 video-based course excerpts where you serve as the voiceover or on-camera talent for your own teaching, combining your own voice with screencaptures, screen recordings, and graphics to teach software or AI topics. Static text- and graphics-based samples alone do not demonstrate what this role requires.
