Recall.ai is seeking a Developer Experience Engineer to own the entire developer experience function from the ground up. This is a founding role at a fast-growing startup with 1000+ customers and significant runway.
You will be responsible for:
**Developer Success**: Serve as the frontline support in customer Slack channels, answering questions and solving problems. Provide guidance on API integration best practices and thoughtful support when developers get stuck.
**Technical Writing**: Create high-quality sample code, documentation, and technical demos to improve the developer experience.
**Product Advocacy**: Engage directly with customers to understand their needs. Advocate for their feedback internally and guide product decisions around self-serve developer flows and resource optimization for agents.
**Internal Tools & Workflows**: Build tools to streamline debugging processes and reduce triage time. You'll have full agency to introduce new tools and processes that help customers succeed faster.
**Additional Responsibilities**: Occasionally join sales calls as a technical resource or contribute to technical marketing content.
Most work is post-sales focused. This role does not currently involve conference speaking or extensive marketing content creation.
The company culture emphasizes customer obsession, genuine care for developers, and putting in the raw hours needed to succeed at an early-stage startup. You'll be one of fewer than 30 team members and will have significant ownership and impact in building the foundations of the company.
**Requirements:**
- 2-3 years of software development experience
- Deep customer empathy and genuine desire to help people solve problems
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical topics in simple, understandable ways
- Self-starter mentality with excitement for building a function from scratch
- Passion for working as a founding startup member
- Comfort with ambiguity and willingness to do things that have never been done before
- Genuine enjoyment of speaking with and helping customers
This role is not a fit if you require stability, cannot commit to the significant workload of an early-stage startup, or are not genuinely excited about helping developers succeed.
