Salary: USD 130,000 - 140,000 / annual
The Ride Platform, Inc. operates a portfolio of mobility and marketplace companies including Outdoorsy (RV rental marketplace), Ride (carsharing), Wheelbase (enterprise SaaS for operators), and Roamly (specialty insurtech). Roamly is a Lloyd's Coverholder and AI-first insurance innovator providing specialty coverage for RVs, carsharing, and emerging mobility models.
This role is a hands-on accounting leadership position within Roamly's finance function. You will own insurance accounting operations end-to-end, including monthly premiums, claims, settlements, and internal/external reporting across all insurance products. Key responsibilities span three areas:
Insurance Accounting: Oversee premium accounting, claims processing, settlements, and financial reporting. Manage insurance-side accounting from inception through completion, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Provide subject matter expertise on revenue recognition, premiums, commissions, claims reserves, carrier/partner activity, and related balance sheet accounts.
Technical Accounting & Close: Actively participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles. Perform journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals. Analyze complex or unusual transactions to determine appropriate GAAP treatment with limited supervision. Review financial results and account activity to identify inconsistencies, trends, and errors. Research underlying accounting problems, recommend solutions, and drive resolution. Assist with international accounting matters including foreign subsidiaries, intercompany transactions, and foreign currency. Support external audits with documentation and schedules.
Leadership & Process Improvement: Partner with senior management on technical accounting matters, financial reporting, and special projects. Mentor and guide other accounting team members on fundamentals and analytical skills. Challenge existing practices and identify opportunities for accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and automation. Document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Step into new or ambiguous areas, establish structure, and move work forward. Lead special projects requiring cross-functional collaboration with finance, operations, compliance, tax, treasury, and business teams.
Required: Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, strong GAAP knowledge, minimum 5 years progressive accounting experience in insurance/reinsurance, ability to manage complex processes independently, strong research and judgment skills, analytical problem-solving, comfort in evolving environments, and strong communication.
Preferred: CPA, international accounting experience, multi-entity organization experience, accounting systems expertise (NetSuite, Applied Epic, Numeric, FloQast), process improvement/automation implementation, and mentoring experience.
