Salary: USD 95,000 - 130,000 / annual
SpaceX is seeking a Security Analyst to join its Security Operations Center (SOC) as a frontline responder protecting critical information and systems. In this role, you will identify, triage, and remediate security detections and anomalies in real time. You'll investigate security incidents from initial detection through root cause analysis, collaborate with engineering teams on evidence collection, and contribute to improving system security posture against sophisticated threat actors.
Key responsibilities include supporting SOC operations as a primary responder, providing incident response support as a key stakeholder, assisting in evidence collection and cross-team collaboration, developing impactful detection capabilities targeting advanced attacker tactics and techniques, and enhancing endpoint and network visibility with improved detection and response playbooks.
Basic qualifications include a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, IT, or STEM discipline (or 2+ years of professional information security experience), hands-on experience with operating system auditing for Linux, Windows, or macOS, and familiarity with network and host-based collection tools.
Preferred experience includes understanding of threat actor tactics and attack lifecycles, incident response processes, SIEM platforms (Elastic, Splunk), scripting for security automation, reverse engineering and forensics, cloud infrastructure security, security community contributions, and relevant certifications (SANS/GIAC, OSCP).
The role is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires onsite presence with no remote or hybrid options. Extended hours and weekend work may be required. Travel to other SpaceX locations is occasional. Compensation ranges from $95,000–$115,000 (Level I) or $110,000–$130,000 (Level II) annually, plus stock options, bonuses, comprehensive benefits, 401(k), disability and life insurance, paid parental leave, and 3 weeks vacation plus 10+ paid holidays. ITAR compliance required: applicant must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
