Nightfall AI is seeking a Security Advocate to serve as the developer relations function for security operations and data security. This is a hands-on role combining technical security research with public-facing content creation and community engagement.
You will own technical investigations end-to-end, testing new AI models, agents, and tools against realistic enterprise workflows to identify data exposures and security control gaps. You'll document findings through technical videos, blog posts, and live demos targeting SOC, incident response, and data security practitioners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting "The Model Did What?" investigations: testing emerging AI tools and models in enterprise contexts, finding concrete data exposures, building reproducible scenarios, and demonstrating where security controls succeed or fail.
- Creating technical content: producing videos, blog posts, and demos that security teams want to watch and share, working collaboratively with the content team.
- Building and maintaining open-source tools: shipping detections, scanners, labs, and utilities for practitioners; documenting them; responding to issues; and maintaining them post-launch.
- Speaking and teaching: delivering talks at security conferences (BSides, Black Hat, DEF CON) and running hands-on workshops where participants reproduce problems and test defenses.
- Community building: participating in podcasts, livestreams, and practitioner communities; gathering feedback from security teams to inform product and marketing strategy.
- Enabling sales: creating realistic, resettable demo environments with synthetic data and documentation that sales engineers can run independently.
Nightfall is an AI-native, unified data loss prevention and insider risk management platform protecting sensitive data across SaaS apps, GenAI tools, email, and endpoints. The company is backed by leading VCs including Bain Capital Ventures, Venrock, and Pear VC, with advisors including the founders of Okta and Mandiant.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years in security engineering, detection engineering, incident response, insider risk/DLP, security research, or sales engineering.
- An established public voice in security: conference talks, podcast appearances, published research, open-source projects, or a following among practitioners.
- Ability to code, work with APIs, and debug across unfamiliar systems.
- Understanding of how enterprise data moves across SaaS, endpoints, and AI tools, and familiarity with security controls (DLP, CASB, SIEM, EDR).
- Ability to explain technical findings clearly and defend them under questioning.
- Comfort engaging with security practitioners and engineers on camera and in person.
- Follow-through on published software and content.
Nice to have: experience as a security advocate, evangelist, or DevRel at a security vendor; hands-on work with LLMs, AI agents, or MCP; SOC or data security operations experience.
