Vaxcyte, a clinical-stage vaccine innovation company, is seeking a Scientist in Immunoassay Development to join the CMC Immunoassay group. This is a hands-on, laboratory-based role focused on developing, qualifying, characterizing, and managing critical reagents and reference materials that support immunoassays across Vaxcyte's vaccine pipeline targeting bacterial diseases including invasive pneumococcal disease, Group A Strep, and Shigella.
Key responsibilities include performing hands-on laboratory work to support immunoassay development, optimization, platform evaluation, method transfer, and validation readiness. You will engage daily in laboratory operations including assay execution, reagent and sample preparation, instrument operation, data review, documentation, and troubleshooting. The role requires designing and executing experiments to support fit-for-purpose immunoassay development for potency, antigenicity, identity, impurity, characterization, comparability, release, and stability testing.
You will evaluate immunoassay platforms and formats including ELISA, MSD, bead-based assays, multiplex assays, automation-enabled workflows, and other ligand-binding technologies. The position involves generating, analyzing, and interpreting immunoassay data including standard curves, sample interpolation, dilution response, recovery, precision, assay controls, and system suitability outputs. Support for routine analytical testing within CMC Immunoassay includes development-stage testing, characterization, platform evaluation, comparability studies, and GMP-supporting testing.
Additional responsibilities include managing critical reagent and reference material activities such as reagent preparation, lot comparison, qualification testing, stability study support, and inventory tracking. You will maintain accurate laboratory records including ELN entries, study records, assay worksheets, and technical documentation. Collaboration with scientists, senior scientists, Associate Directors, and the Director is essential for planning experiments, reviewing data, troubleshooting assays, and prioritizing laboratory work. Support for outsourced immunoassay activities including sample preparation, shipment coordination, and data review is also part of the role.
