Precision for Medicine seeks a Scientific Director for Medical Communications to lead scientific strategy and content development for pharmaceutical and biotech clients. Reporting to the VP of Content Development, you will serve as the scientific team lead, ensuring all content is evidence-based, strategically aligned, and clinically relevant.
Key responsibilities include: writing and reviewing medical content; providing direction to Medical Writers, Editors, and Graphic Artists; managing and mentoring Medical Writers; analyzing complex medical documents and literature; leading client and author discussions on content strategy; maintaining current knowledge of competitor products and therapeutic area developments; attending medical conferences; overseeing regulatory review processes; designing and attending advisory board meetings; and supporting business development initiatives.
You will work cross-functionally with Strategic Account Directors to translate client marketing and educational objectives into compelling programs. Additional responsibilities include identifying new business opportunities, participating in new business pitches, defining content standards of excellence, improving content development processes, and providing training to junior team members.
The role requires extensive travel (moderate to extensive depending on assignment) and involves managing timelines, regulatory compliance, and quality control across multiple client teams. You'll maintain expertise in assigned therapeutic areas, conduct literature searches, assess market opportunities, and help develop new client relationships.
Required qualifications: MD, PhD, or PharmD; extensive medical writing experience; 2–3+ years in communication agency settings. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and reference-management software (EndNote) required. Strong written and verbal communication, ability to work independently and collaboratively, superior time management, and professional interaction with clients and thought leaders essential.
