Newsela is seeking a Sales Representative for the SMB (small-to-medium business) segment to drive growth in K-12 school districts. As an individual contributor, you will own a regional territory, manage the full sales lifecycle from prospecting through closing, and build relationships with key decision-makers at the district level. Your responsibilities include pipeline management, forecasting, designing lead generation campaigns, and developing territory business plans informed by local funding landscapes, state initiatives, and K-12 education demographics.
You will meet virtually with school and district leaders to present Newsela's suite of reading content solutions, negotiate terms, and secure agreements. You'll exercise significant autonomy in evaluating customer needs, structuring tailored solutions, and influencing revenue outcomes. The role requires strategic territory management with the executive presence to lead consultative conversations across multiple stakeholders and engineer the right solution for each customer.
Required qualifications: 2+ years of full-cycle K-12 EdTech sales experience with a proven track record of hitting or exceeding large sales quotas. Preferred: prior experience as an ELA or Social Studies teacher/instructional coach, or strong grasp of K-12 pedagogy. You should be a self-starter comfortable driving sales quickly to close in a fast-paced environment, with demonstrated experience building a book of business from scratch and managing high-volume district sales.
