dcbel Inc. designs and sells residential clean energy products, with a flagship Home Energy Station (Ara) that integrates solar, EV charging, stationary batteries, and grid services. The company is seeking a Sales Engineer to support technical sales efforts across channel partners (installers, home builders), utilities, automotive OEMs, and solar/storage providers. In this role, you will be the technical voice supporting pre-sales and sales activities. Key responsibilities include: supporting channel sales and partner adoption of dcbel hardware and software; delivering technical product demonstrations, webinars, and presentations to B2B customers and partners; leading pre-sales discovery and qualification; owning technical content for customer proposals, RFI/RFP/RFQ responses, and grant funding opportunities; and conducting deep-dive technical sessions with utilities, aggregators, and automotive manufacturers. You will need 7–10+ years in a technical, product-focused pre-sales or applications engineering role in the energy industry. Direct experience with distributed energy resources (solar, storage, EV charging, V2X) is essential—either from product development, deployment, or program management. Field experience is critical: commissioning, installation oversight, site troubleshooting, or utility pilot deployments. You must have solid working knowledge of power electronics (inverters, bidirectional DC/DC and DC/AC conversion, protection and safety), EV charging protocols (ISO 15118), DER integration protocols (IEEE 2030.5, OpenADR), and IoT/site-level communication (MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU, SunSpec, Zigbee/Matter). Comfort with logs, packet captures, API documentation, and lab/field diagnostics is expected. You are a strong presenter capable of running partner presentations, technical webinars, and live product demos with confidence. You can pitch at the right level for any audience—from utility program managers and OEM engineering teams to installers. You are self-directed, comfortable as the sole technical voice in customer conversations, and willing to travel 25%+ within the US.
