Valar Atomics is a Series A nuclear energy company developing advanced, factory-built nuclear systems to deliver clean, high-temperature power for industrial applications, hydrogen production, and next-generation manufacturing. The company is building a pilot plant in Utah to demonstrate scalable nuclear technology.
You will join the Power Conversion engineering team as a Rotordynamics Engineer, responsible for analyzing and optimizing the rotating groups in Valar's power generation turbomachinery. This is an early-stage turbomachinery hire with direct influence over system architecture and design decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting rotordynamic analyses on rotating groups to ensure acceptable margins and performance
- Collaborating with secondary flow and seal engineers to define seal clearances and system constraints
- Defining balance requirements and procedures for rotating equipment
- Working cross-functionally to develop manufacturable, high-efficiency, robust designs
You will need a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and a minimum of 3 years of hands-on rotordynamic analysis experience. Required expertise includes lateral and torsional rotordynamic response analysis, balancing requirements definition, and experience with high-speed rotating equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines, blowers, turboexpanders, or turbopumps.
