Mercury is a fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. The Risk team is expanding, and we're seeking a Risk UX Specialist to handle risk decisions on user inquiries while maintaining excellent customer experiences.
In this role, you will respond to transaction limit increase requests from high and moderate-risk users by reviewing account and transactional activity to ensure alignment with expected usage patterns. You'll review overlimit transactions through a dedicated queue, evaluating account history and risk signals, and requesting supporting documentation as needed to approve or reject decisions within required service level agreements. You'll also review and make decisions on remote check deposits submitted by users using internal and third-party systems.
You'll manage a high-volume caseload with critical attention to detail, respond to risk support requests via email and Slack from financial partners, users, and internal teams, and partner with the BPO team by providing second opinions and exception guidance on escalated reviews. Documentation is key—you'll clearly record the rationale for all risk decisions and help write process documentation to train future teammates.
Beyond day-to-day decisions, you'll identify opportunities to make processes more observable, scalable, and efficient through tooling changes and procedure updates. Throughout all of this, you'll maintain a positive user experience while effectively mitigating fraud loss and risk to Mercury.
