Wayve is building an AI platform for autonomous driving using end-to-end learning. As Release Manager for AI Models, you will own the model release cycle and ensure AI models move reliably from hypothesis through training, evaluation, validation, and deployment across the vehicle fleet.
Your responsibilities include:
- Own and maintain a steady, predictable model release cadence while adapting to changing business priorities
- Coordinate across ML engineering, evaluation, data science, software platform, testing, and product teams to resolve dependencies and keep releases on track
- Define and run release gates that determine when models are ready to progress from hypothesis → training → evaluation → validation → deployment
- Drive investigations into regressions and integration issues; coordinate rollback/roll-forward decisions and follow through on corrective actions
- Serve as the central point of contact for model-release status, risks, and timelines, communicating appropriately to engineers and leadership
- Conduct post-release reviews and translate lessons learned into practical improvements across teams
- Define release gates and promotion criteria that balance performance gains, reproducibility, product requirements, safety, and compatibility with onboard software and vehicle platforms
- Build frameworks connecting model development, evaluation, the Wayve onboard stack, and product needs while applying strong release-engineering practices adapted for non-deterministic ML systems
- Identify bottlenecks in the release lifecycle; implement dashboards and KPIs to make constraints visible and proactively escalate gaps
- Partner with ML platform and integration teams to shape end-to-end automated release tooling; define requirements that improve developer experience, efficiency, and stakeholder communication
- Strengthen how teams handle model versions, integration issues, regressions, and recovery to ensure reliable, stable deployments
Wayve operates a hybrid model combining in-person collaboration in London with remote flexibility. The company has additional hubs in Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver, and Leonberg.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in release management, software engineering, or related field
- Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and release management practices, including testing strategy, system integration, branching, and versioning
- Conceptual understanding of ML fundamentals: training data, training vs. inference, model versions/checkpoints, and probabilistic model validation
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as GitHub, Buildkite, and CLI tools
- Skilled at managing releases in complex, fast-moving systems; comfortable adapting processes and tooling as requirements, architecture, and timelines change
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including when release trade-offs depend on limited or ambiguous data
- Clear communication with engineers and leadership; ability to help people understand priorities, risks, and decisions
- Pragmatic, methodical, system-minded approach with strong release-engineering instincts and judgment about where ML systems require different approaches
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in AI/ML, autonomous vehicles, or robotics
- Familiarity with MLOps methodologies and tooling
- Experience with ML evaluation practices and tooling for physical systems (simulation, model leaderboards, statistically powered experiments like A/B or shadow-mode testing)
- Awareness of model hardware and software dependencies
- BSc or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
