Mercury is a fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. This Relationship Manager role sits at the intersection of customer success and account management, focused on early-stage startup customers.
You'll serve as the primary relationship contact for a high-volume portfolio of startup customers, ensuring they extract maximum business value from Mercury's core financial products. Your responsibilities include onboarding founders to the platform, building relationships across startup teams, executing retention and expansion playbooks, and identifying growth opportunities within existing accounts. You'll work proactively to retain customers, surface high-growth accounts, and advocate for customer needs by collaborating with Sales, Partnerships, and Product teams.
The role requires managing a large book of accounts efficiently through automation and playbooks while maintaining personal touches. You'll be responsive across Slack, email, and occasional in-person events (under 20% travel). Success in this position means combining operational rigor—strong documentation, proactive communication, project management—with a customer-first, process-driven mindset.
Ideal candidates bring 2–4 years of experience in fintech, customer success, early-stage banking, or startup-facing account management. You're comfortable with ambiguity and speed, deeply curious, meticulous, and eager to grow into deeper relationship management responsibilities. Experience with founders or early-stage teams is essential. Bonus qualifications include Series 65 license, CFP, or CFA charterholder status.
