GitLab is seeking a Strategic Account Executive to lead enterprise sales efforts focused on Canadian public sector government accounts. This role is part of GitLab's Canada Enterprise Team and targets large, strategic prospects in the government space.
You will serve as the primary account leader for strategic government customers, managing the full sales lifecycle from prospecting through post-sale adoption. Key responsibilities include: developing and executing account plans tailored to customer business needs; conducting consultative sales activities to identify opportunities within large organizations; ensuring successful product rollout and adoption through coordination with pre-sales, post-sales, and support teams; generating qualified leads in partnership with strategic channel partners; and serving as the voice of the customer by contributing product feedback to GitLab's public issue tracker.
You will prepare activity and forecast reports, conduct root cause analysis on wins and losses, and communicate lessons learned across account management, marketing, and technical teams. The role requires strong collaboration with marketing on go-to-market strategies and assisting sales management in conveying customer needs to product and support teams.
The ideal candidate brings proven enterprise sales experience selling into public sector organizations, with a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, CI/CD automation, secure development practices, and infrastructure modernization in regulated environments. You should have experience selling to large organizations, excellent negotiation and presentation skills, and the ability to work independently on complex projects. Preferred experience includes familiarity with Git, software development tools, application lifecycle management, or security/AppSec tools. You must be able to use GitLab and be willing to travel as needed.
