Salary: USD 175,000 - 350,000 / annual
Chainguard is seeking an experienced Public Sector Account Executive to drive sales expansion within federal civilian organizations. You will own the complete sales cycle—from prospecting and pipeline development through closing complex deals with federal customers in healthcare, HHS, VA, and DHA.
In this role, you'll leverage disciplined sales methodologies (MEDDPICC) to identify customer pain points and articulate measurable business value. You'll manage multi-stakeholder buying cycles involving technical teams, security leaders, and executive decision-makers. Your responsibilities include building and managing a defined federal account portfolio, leading discovery and qualification, coordinating with Sales Engineering and Customer Success teams for technical validation, and navigating complex federal procurement, security reviews, and negotiations.
You'll maintain accurate pipeline visibility, forecast with discipline, and consistently meet or exceed revenue and pipeline targets. Success requires deep experience selling complex technical products into federal organizations, particularly in SaaS, Security, and DevOps sectors.
Required qualifications: 8–10+ years selling complex technical products to federal organizations; 5+ years closing SaaS/Security/DevOps deals; 5+ years covering Federal Healthcare, HHS, VA, and DHA accounts; proven track record building pipeline and closing revenue; comfort with disciplined sales processes; ability to navigate multi-stakeholder cycles; strong deal management and forecast discipline; excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Desired: domain expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, DevOps tooling, CI/CD platforms (GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins), or SDLC; startup experience; tech-savvy business acumen; ability to thrive in agile, evolving environments.
