Salary: USD 60,000 - 80,000 / annual

Recent acquisitions include Stessa (financial and asset management software), RentPrep (tenant screening), Mynd (property management platform), and an ownership stake in Casago (short-term rental management).
The Property Accountant – Retail will provide full-cycle accounting support for the property management team, serving as a key member responsible for communicating financial results to external clients and internal management. This role requires strong accounting, collaboration, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily accounting functions for multiple regions
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports in accordance with GAAP, including financial statement preparation, reconciliation, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare weekly and monthly distributions to clients
- Review and maintain accuracy of general ledgers, including G/L activity posting, balance sheet reconciliation, and subsidiary ledger maintenance
- Support Property Accounting Managers with ad hoc projects, monthly closes, and distributions
- Monitor cash receipt postings, tenant billings, billing adjustments, and perform tenant ledger reconciliations
- Review invoice coding and workflow to ensure adherence to capitalization policies and timely vendor payments
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure accounting accuracy and completeness of financial packages
- Independently research historical cash transactions and provide timely responses to Portfolio Managers and Regional Directors
- Provide accounting detail and assistance to Property Accounting Managers for internal and external auditors
- Research new accounting laws and regulations for different states as needed
- Assist in preparing annual 1099 and 1096 reporting to vendors and IRS
- Assist in preparing quarterly 592 and 588 forms to Franchise Tax Board
- Perform ad hoc assignments as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent preferred
- 3+ years of Real Estate Accounting experience
- Experience in Public Accounting is a plus
- Proficiency using Excel and Google Suite products
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Adaptability and ability to maintain effectiveness in varying environments and with various types of people
- Strong planning and organizing skills; ability to establish a course of action to accomplish goals
- Ability to multitask, work successfully under pressure, and effectively prioritize and manage time and workload
- Client focus with dedication to meeting expectations and requirements of external and internal clients
- Ability to effectively cope with change, shift gears comfortably, and handle risk and uncertainty
