Pathstream is seeking a Product Researcher to uncover insights that drive product improvements, business expansion, and progress toward the company's mission of reshaping how frontline employees and managers excel in their careers.
Pathstream transforms frontline teams through enterprise partnerships, moving them from transactional to relational and task-oriented to strategic. The company impacts client bottom lines through improved productivity, increased retention, and differentiated customer experience, while enabling employees to succeed in current roles and unlock future professional growth.
In this role, you will work cross-functionally within the Product & Design department, partnering closely with product managers, designers, and teams across the company. You'll be responsible for building knowledge about the market, users, and business opportunities through a variety of research methodologies.
Key responsibilities include:
**Research and Analysis:** Plan, conduct, and synthesize research across multiple areas—early-stage exploration of new product areas and industries to understand user pain points and opportunities; usability testing on product features before release to identify UX improvements; curriculum research with subject matter experts to ensure courses teach relevant skills; and post-launch monitoring via quantitative data, surveys, interviews, and session replays to identify what's working and what needs refinement.
**Research Operations:** Design and improve product research processes, identifying automation and efficiency opportunities. Build and maintain the expert advisor network by sourcing and screening subject matter experts. Organize research files and findings for team accessibility, and manage research logistics including scheduling and compensation.
**Collaboration:** Work with project stakeholders to address insights from initial research, including building and user-testing prototypes. Maintain relationships with subject matter experts and advisors, coordinating communication between advisors and Pathstream teams. Serve as the responsive "voice of the customer" for various teams building and testing new user experiences.
**Requirements:**
- 3+ years of experience in research, data, or insights roles such as consulting, venture or impact investing, user research, or similar work involving varied responsibilities
- Comfortable working from limited information and familiar with both qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Experience operating in a startup or on a small team, demonstrating ownership mindset and ability to run with loosely defined or co-created project requirements
- Experience synthesizing research into actionable insights and translating user feedback or data into internal decision-making
- Experience with research operations such as managing research repositories, research tooling (survey platforms, user recruitment networks, transcription and tagging tools)
- Bonus: Existing knowledge or experience researching the financial services industry, frontline workers, or both
- Bonus: Experience using latest AI tools relevant to product research and design
