Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The Air Defense and Counter-Intrusion teams build robotics systems that detect, track, and defeat threats. Sentry is the primary product—a fielded platform integrating robotics, autonomy, hardware, and software for mission-critical defense and security applications.
As a Product Operations Engineer, you will architect how Anduril observes, maintains, and evolves the deployed Sentry fleet. Rather than responding to incidents, you build systems, queries, and processes that enable prevention. You will develop deep product understanding and serve as the subject matter expert for Sentry across both business lines.
Key responsibilities include:
• Build and maintain deep technical understanding of Sentry hardware and software, serving as the product operations SME and helping technical and non-technical stakeholders communicate effectively.
• Design, deploy, and continuously improve the root cause corrective action (RCCA) system for fielded Sentry towers, from failure capture through corrective action deployment.
• Transform fleet failure data, field feedback, and reliability trends into actionable product improvement signals that directly inform next-generation hardware and software design.
• Apply and mature FRACAS (failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action) practice for Sentry, establishing how failures are classified, tracked, and closed so reliability improvement is measurable.
• Develop and deploy uptime reporting and capability availability metrics that translate raw telemetry into fleet health dashboards for program, product, and leadership stakeholders.
• Proactively build and improve observability tooling in partnership with hardware and software engineering, ensuring coverage keeps pace with new Sentry variants and deployments.
• Own, democratize, and continuously improve the Sentry knowledge base for field operations, codifying operational knowledge so it is accurate and usable by any level of on-call support.
• Expand self-service resources, runbooks, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides so more issues are resolved at the point of need and escalations arrive better characterized.
• Lead iterative design cycles spanning product operations, engineering, and deployment functions, building agreement on what to change next and carrying it through to implementation.
You should bring strong technical depth in robotics engineering, experience leading iterative design across multiple teams, a systems approach to problem solving, and familiarity with reliability and quality methodologies. If you are passionate about groundbreaking technology, contributing to the national security mission, and engineering operational excellence from the ground up, this role is for you.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 5+ years of experience in product operations, technical support, site reliability, or comparable technical operations role supporting deployed hardware and software systems, with demonstrated progression in scope and ownership.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or another relevant technical field, or equivalent hands-on technical experience (military, industrial, or field support).
• Technical depth in robotics, mechatronics, or complex electromechanical systems, including ability to reason across hardware, software, and networking boundaries.
• Demonstrated experience driving root cause corrective action (RCCA) to closure on complex systems, including how failures are captured, classified, and verified as resolved.
• Experience leading iterative design or improvement cycles across multiple engineering and operations teams, carrying a change from problem statement through implementation.
• Proficiency developing monitoring queries, dashboards, and alerting configurations using observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, or similar tooling.
• Experience validating and verifying software changes on distributed or fielded systems, including rollout, verification, and rollback considerations.
• Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash) with a track record of building tooling that improves operational efficiency, plus fluency with development and issue tracking tooling such as Git and Jira.
• Demonstrated ability to author clear, thorough technical documentation including runbooks, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to coordinate technical and non-technical efforts across product, engineering, deployment, and sustainment functions, including across more than one program or customer at a time.
• Proven ability to work independently, identify what needs to be built, and deliver it without close direction.
• Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
