depthfirst is building AI-powered security intelligence to detect and remediate critical software vulnerabilities. The founding team includes technical leaders from DeepMind, Databricks, Square, and Faire with deep expertise in data, infrastructure, security, and LLMs.
As the first Product Marketing Lead, you will define how depthfirst's category-defining security product is positioned, understood, and sold. This is a founding go-to-market role with significant ownership and the opportunity to build the PMM function from the ground up.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning positioning and messaging for depthfirst and each product, evolving it as the product and market mature
- Creating clear, credible narratives that differentiate depthfirst in a crowded, hype-heavy security market by translating technical differentiation into buyer-resonant stories
- Running product launches end-to-end: narrative development, asset creation, timing, and cross-functional coordination across product, sales, and demand generation
- Building competitive intelligence as a durable asset through landscape tracking, win/loss analysis, and battlecard development
- Partnering closely with sales to build enablement that moves deals, including pitch decks, one-pagers, demo narratives, and talk tracks; sitting in on calls to keep messaging grounded in reality
- Writing and owning high-impact website copy that converts, from homepage to product pages
- Developing deep buyer understanding and translating their problems into resonant language across all marketing collateral
- Feeding market and competitive signals back to product to shape roadmap priorities
Required qualifications: 5+ years in product marketing, ideally including a first or early PMM hire at a fast-growing startup where you iterated on messaging. Track record of making technical products stand out in competitive markets. Strong sales partnership experience with real enablement and win/loss program success. Excellent writing ability to translate technical concepts into clear, persuasive messaging. Comfort going deep on technical products; developer tools, security, or infrastructure experience is a strong plus. High ownership mentality and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate.
