Monzo is a fintech company on a mission to make money work for everyone, offering personal and business bank accounts, joint accounts, credit cards, savings, investments, and pension services in the UK.
You'll join the Payments Platform team as a Product Manager focused on Finance Infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of Payments and Finance, working closely with the Finance Infrastructure squad to build the foundational systems that enable Monzo to operate safely, scale efficiently, and expand into new markets. The work encompasses ledgers, financial data, controls, reporting, reconciliation, and platform capabilities—critical infrastructure that sits behind the scenes but is essential to the bank's operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and executing the roadmap for Finance Infrastructure within Payments Platform
- Partnering closely with Engineering, Finance, and Payments leadership to understand current and future system needs
- Translating complex finance, accounting, operational, and regulatory requirements into scalable platform capabilities
- Prioritizing across competing stakeholder needs while balancing urgent delivery with long-term system health
- Helping Monzo build financial infrastructure that supports multiple products, entities, countries, currencies, and regulatory environments
- Building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Finance, Engineering, Product, and Operations
This is a role for someone genuinely excited by complex, technical infrastructure. While the work is often behind the scenes, it's business-critical and directly enables product launches, market expansion, and safe banking operations.
Requirements:
- Strong Product Manager with experience owning complex technical, platform, infrastructure, or financial systems
- Sufficient technical depth to partner credibly with engineers and reason about systems, trade-offs, dependencies, and long-term architecture
- Genuine excitement about "boring but critical" infrastructure: ledgers, reconciliation, financial data, controls, reporting, internal platforms, abstractions, and backend systems
- Ability to work effectively with senior and cross-functional stakeholders, including Finance, Engineering, Product, and operational teams
- Comfort bringing product thinking into ambiguous or stakeholder-heavy environments, moving teams from request-led delivery toward long-term strategy
- High agency, ambition, and willingness to stretch yourself in a high-bar team
- Care for customers and business outcomes, even when work is several layers removed from end-customer experience
