BigTime is a Professional Services Automation (PSA) platform used by thousands of consulting, IT, engineering, and accounting firms to manage project accounting, staffing, time tracking, billing, and financial visibility. The company is building a next-generation platform organized into cross-functional pods, each owning a product surface end-to-end.
You will lead the Financial Core pod, which owns the accounting engine underlying the platform. This includes the project accounting subledger, cost model, revenue recognition, WIP and unbilled balances, period close, and integrations to general ledgers. This is the surface controllers reconcile against and auditors must accept. You will own the roadmap, specification quality, and outcomes for this critical financial layer, working alongside an engineering lead, designer, and engineering team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the project accounting subledger, trial balance, GL reconciliation, and period close controls
- Managing revenue recognition (ASC 606 support) covering performance obligations, transaction price allocation, and recognition methods
- Defining the cost model for employee, contractor, and vendor costs with margin visibility
- Treating WIP, unbilled, and deferred balances as reportable, reconcilable objects
- Building GL and ERP integrations (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, etc.) with bidirectional reconciliation
- Designing AI-native finance workflows including agents for recognition cycles, close checklists, and reconciliation
- Writing precise specifications that engineers can build from and controllers recognize as correct
- Spending time with controllers, CFOs, revenue accountants, and accounting managers to translate needs into prioritized requirements
- Tracking regulatory and accounting standard changes and representing compliance impact in roadmap decisions
- Partnering daily with engineering and design to settle trade-offs collaboratively
- Defining acceptance criteria and holding quality standards before customer releases
- Collaborating with Sales, Customer Experience, and Finance to ensure roadmap reflects deal-winning and customer-retention priorities
Required qualifications:
- 6+ years of product management on B2B SaaS with genuine domain depth (or 4+ years for Senior PM level)
- Track record of shipping complex, backend-heavy capabilities that customers adopted
- Strong written communication and ability to change positions based on evidence
- Comfort with ambiguity and bias toward quick decision-making
- Experience working directly with engineering on data models and system design
- Sufficient technical fluency to contribute meaningfully to technical conversations
- Proficiency using AI as a working tool (prototyping, drafting PRDs, competitive analysis, research synthesis)
Finance and accounting background (at least one of the following):
- ERP or accounting platform implementation, solution consulting, or solution architecture experience (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, Workday Financials, Deltek, Unanet, QuickBooks)
- Product management on financial products (subledger, revenue recognition, billing, close platform, reconciliation tools)
- Hands-on accounting or finance operations experience (staff accountant, revenue accountant, controller, FP&A)
- CPA, CMA, or accounting degree (helpful but not required)
You must understand how firms close their books, the distinction between subledger and GL, percent-complete revenue recognition behavior, and period close mechanics.
