Salary: USD 180,000 - 230,000 / annual
Adapt is building a company agent platform that makes every organization instantly AI-native. The vision is a central, universal AI agent that works across systems, tools, data, and people within a business—one place to ask, build, analyze, automate, and act across internal operations. The company was founded by repeat operators (Jim Benton from ClearSlide/Apollo.io/Chorus.ai, Sean Smith from GlareDB/Coder, and John Andrew Entwistle from Coder/Wander) and has raised $13M from Headline, Activant, Susa Ventures, and accomplished operators.
As the founding designer, you will own how companies set up, use, and control their agent. You'll drive the full design lifecycle from customer conversations through prototypes, implementation, and launch, while shaping both the product and the design function as the company scales.
Key responsibilities:
- Design clear, intuitive experiences across Slack and web for setup, integrations, agent behavior configuration, and control.
- Build a code-backed design system that engineers and AI agents use by default.
- Partner closely with engineers to ship and refine everything from core user flows to product copy and visual details.
- Engage directly with customers to identify friction points and translate them into shipped improvements.
- Set the product quality bar and bring launches to life through compelling demos and supporting visuals.
The role is in-person at the Presidio office in San Francisco, five days a week. The company is open to relocation for the right candidate.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of product design experience, ideally in AI, developer tools, infrastructure, or enterprise software.
- A portfolio demonstrating how you've made complex systems understandable and showing ownership from customer problem identification through shipped product.
- Expertise in Figma and comfort writing frontend code, including HTML, CSS, and ideally React.
- Strong interaction design, visual design, and product-copy craft, informed by regular use of frontier AI tools.
