Tempo is seeking a Principal, SPM Implementation to build and lead the company's Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) practice from the ground up. With 30,000+ customers including one-third of Fortune 500 companies, Tempo is the #1 time management add-on for Jira and a trusted name in the Atlassian ecosystem. In this role, you will be a player-coach who earns authority through field delivery. You will run SPM implementations end-to-end post-sale, including discovery, maturity assessment, portfolio design (demand intake, capacity planning, prioritization, governance), rollout, and adoption. You'll sit as a peer with PMO and portfolio leaders, asking diagnostic questions to understand organizational maturity and designing engagements that move them one honest stage forward rather than overpromising transformation. You will translate legacy workflows into better experiences—helping organizations migrate from tools like Planview and Clarity to Tempo's modular, AI-native platform. You'll occasionally support pre-sales on competitive displacement deals where your deep implementation credibility closes gaps. Simultaneously, you'll build Tempo's SPM practice: writing the implementation playbook, maturity model, and reference architectures from scratch. You'll create enablement for Customer Success, sales, and partners to scale the practice beyond yourself. You'll feed field learning back to product and, as the practice proves out, make the hiring case and lead a small team. This is not a coding role, not a Jira administration seat, and not engagement coordination. You'll project-manage rollouts as table stakes; guiding the customer's SPM journey is the core job. Success at 6 months means personally delivering referenceable implementations and completing version one of the playbook and maturity model. At 12 months, the practice is repeatable by others, your methodology is the partner standard, enablement exists for CS and sales, and your first team hire is approved.
