Docker is seeking a Principal Solutions Architect to serve as a trusted technical leader for the company's most important customers. This is a senior individual contributor role that bridges product development, pre-sales, and post-sales customer engagement.
In this position, you will partner closely with Account Executives, Solutions Engineers, Post Sales teams, and Product to drive measurable business and technical value. Key responsibilities include:
**High-Priority Customer Technical Leadership:**
- Lead technical engagements with Docker's most strategic customers, accelerating their container and AI journeys with focus on developer workflows
- Gather and synthesize customer technical and business goals related to containers and AI
- Create and manage comprehensive engagement plans spanning existing and new Docker offerings
- Oversee design-partner rapid prototyping engagements to validate product-market fit for new use cases
- Develop and deliver custom demos, enablement content, and best-practices guidance to audiences from developers to C-level executives
- Travel up to 50% domestically and internationally as a senior Docker representative
**Docker Field Technical Leadership:**
- Serve as a thought leader for your regional area of responsibility, creating and delivering content internally and externally
- Gather field feedback from customer and Docker pre/post-sales teams
- Coordinate with Field CTO and peer Solutions Architects to prioritize and contextualize customer requests for product/engineering teams
- Work directly with product and engineering on feature alignment to revenue-impacting customer use cases
- Act as customer zero for new Docker functionality
- Contribute to internal and customer enablement strategy and content review
- Support sales enablement with technical training on new products and services
**Required Qualifications:**
- Proven experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Solutions Architect in complex enterprise environments
- Excellent communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing customer relationships at both technical and business levels
- Strong presentation and demonstration skills (virtual and in-person)
- Experience interfacing with product, engineering, and support teams to improve documentation, enablement, and features
- Application development experience and deep understanding of developer challenges
- Ability to translate customer feedback into actionable engineering input
- Experience developing customer enablement collateral and best-practice guidance
- Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containers, DevOps, and modern application architectures
- Fluency in English and willingness to travel up to 50%
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience with Docker, container ecosystems, or adjacent technologies
- Background in development, agentic AI development, software development lifecycle, or software supply chain security
