OpenAI's Enterprise Verticals team is building role-specific ChatGPT Work experiences for high-value enterprise workflows. The Technology vertical focuses on repeatable workflows for people at technology companies, starting with functions like data and analytics, sales, and design.
You will be an exceptionally experienced, hands-on full-stack engineer defining and building the next generation of AI-powered enterprise workflows. This is an individual-contributor role where you lead through technical judgment, direct execution, and influence—not people management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Set technical direction for role-specific enterprise AI experiences and personally design, build, and ship critical components across ChatGPT Work surfaces, backend services, plugins, and connectors.
- Translate ambiguous customer and design-partner needs into clear, generalizable product and technical strategy with explicit milestones and measurable goals.
- Lead complex cross-functional initiatives with Design, Research, GTM, Security, and platform teams; align senior stakeholders and drive decisions through implementation.
- Architect production-grade systems and establish evaluation, instrumentation, security, reliability, and staged-rollout standards for probabilistic AI experiences.
- Own the complete product and engineering lifecycle from problem definition through sustained iteration.
- Define durable technical contracts across connectors, identity, permissions, enterprise data, and shared platform dependencies; raise the engineering bar through architecture reviews and mentorship.
You should have 10+ years building production software, combining exceptional technical depth with strong product judgment. You can independently architect sophisticated systems across frontend, backend, APIs, data, and distributed services. You earn trust with customers, influence senior stakeholders, and bring cross-functional teams to clear decisions without formal authority. You have repeatedly led architecture and hands-on delivery of important user-facing products from ambiguous beginnings through production use at scale. Experience with modern frontend (React, TypeScript), backend services (Python, Go, Node.js), full-stack production systems, enterprise identity and authorization, business-critical systems at scale, applied AI/agentic products, and workflow/analytics products is preferred.
